In the event of an emergency or a situation calling for an expediting of traffic and/or parking or for the immediate safeguarding of pedestrians and property, the Police Chief or his designee is herein empowered to provide temporary restrictions and regulations and to organize the direction of traffic as conditions may require, notwithstanding the provisions of Articles I and II or of any other local law or ordinance regulating traffic within this village, and furthermore may apply the same authority to the regulations or temporary suspension of parking as deemed necessary. Such action by the Chief of Police or his designee shall have the same force and effect of the duly enacted provisions of these ordinances, provided that signs or markings giving notice are posted. Any of the above actions by the Police Chief or his designee shall be subject to termination by the Village Board if deemed necessary.
