[Adopted by the Township Committee of the Township of Ocean
by Ord. No. 1980-17, amended by Ord. No. 1994-4 (§ 2-19.4 of
the 1972 Ocean Codified Ordinances). Subsequent amendments noted where
applicable.]
Whenever an account owing to the municipality is tendered for
payment by way of a check or other written instrument, which check
or other written instrument is subsequently returned for insufficient
funds, a service charge shall be added to such account in the amount
of $20 per check or other written instrument and shall be collected
in the same manner prescribed by law for the collection of the account
for which the check or other written instrument was tendered. In addition,
the Township Committee may require future payments to be tendered
in cash or by certified or cashier's check.
