The position of the Director of Public Safety is hereby created. Said position shall be held by a member of the Township Committee, appointed by the Mayor for a one-year term.
The Director of Public Safety shall have the overall responsibility for the police function within the Township. He will further be responsible for supervising the emergency management function within the Township and the Director of Emergency Management. He will further liaison and coordinate with the volunteer fire companies and ambulance companies within the Township and, from time to time, will make recommendations to the Township Committee concerning the funding of such organizations, equipment necessary for such organizations, personnel, and the like.
