This article shall be known as "A Local Law Concerning the Appointment and Residency of the Dog Control Officer."
A. 
The Town Board may appoint a Dog Control Officer for the purpose of enforcing such local and state laws, rules, ordinances and regulations as may pertain to serve at the Town Board's pleasure.
B. 
The Town Board shall set the compensation for such officer.
C. 
The person appointed need not be a resident of the Town, provided that he shall be a resident of the County of Lewis.
The Dog Control Officer:
A. 
Shall make, file and maintain record of any seizure and subsequent disposition of any dog seized on the Dog Seizure and Disposition Report (DL-18).
B. 
Write appearance tickets for violations to Town or Village Court.
C. 
Maintain a record of phone calls, hours worked, mileage and equipment used.
D. 
Keep DCO records, equipment, and vehicle subject to NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets standards.
E. 
Help maintain a dog license database with the Town Clerk.
F. 
File a monthly report with the Town Clerk to be presented to the Town Board.
