[Code 1959, § 20.301]
The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article,
shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where
the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
HIGHWAY and STREET
Mean the entire width between the boundary lines of every
publicly maintained way when any part thereof is open to the use of
the public for purposes of vehicular travel.
OPERATOR
Means any person who operates, or is in actual physical control
of, a snowmobile.
SIDEWALK
Means an area constructed of concrete or asphalt and designed
for the use of pedestrians.
SNOWMOBILE
Means any motor driven vehicle designed for travel primarily
on snow or ice, of a type which utilizes sled-type runners or skis,
or an endless belt tread, or any combination thereof, or other similar
means of contact with the surface upon which it is operated, but is
not a vehicle that must be registered under the Michigan vehicle code.

No person shall operate a snowmobile on any highway, street
or sidewalk within the Village limits, except in case of emergency,
with the express permission of the Chief of Police or the Village
President.

No person shall operate a snowmobile on private property within
the Village limits, except on property owned by the operator or with
the written permission of the owner of the property.
