There is hereby provided in the City a Police Department which
shall consist of the Chief of Police and such Police Officers who
are serving in such capacity, having been sworn by the Mayor or duly
appointed member of the Board of Aldermen serving as Acting President
of the Board, and any other Police Officers who may be appointed by
the Board and duly sworn by the Mayor or Acting President.

The Board of Aldermen shall be responsible for the establishment
of official rules and regulations of the Police Department. Such rules
and regulations adopted by resolution of the Board are on file in
the City Clerk's office.

The ranks of the members of the Police Department, in descending
order, shall be as follows:
Chief of Police;
Lieutenant;
Sergeant;
Detective; and
Police Officer.

The members of the Police Department shall be compensated in
the manner and amounts established by the Board of Aldermen.
