[Adopted 9-8-2014 by Ord. No. 2014-22]
In addition to the manner in which a Village President or other elected or appointed official of the Village may resign pursuant to the provisions of the Illinois Municipal Code, the Village Board of Trustees may accept an oral or written resignation of any elected or appointed Village official (even if not conforming to the criteria set forth in the Illinois Municipal Code), provided that such resignation is delivered in person at a duly called meeting of the Village Board of Trustees. The circumstances of such resignation shall be confirmed in a resolution or ordinance approved by the Village Board of Trustees following delivery of such in-person resignation.
Upon the resignation of a Village official as provided pursuant to § 20-46 above, a successor to the vacated office shall be approved in the manner provided under the Illinois Municipal Code, which approval may be set forth in an ordinance or resolution of the Village Board of Trustees. Any such ordinance or resolution may set forth particular matters relating to the transition of office holders the Village Board may determine is necessary or convenient. Following such approval, the oath of office shall be administered to the successor in office by the Village Clerk or such other person authorized to administer oaths.
