This chapter shall be known as the "Paw Paw Township Zoning Ordinance." Within the following text, it may be referred to as the "ordinance" or the "Zoning Ordinance."
This chapter is based on the Paw Paw Township Master Plan, as the same may be amended from time to time by the Township, and is intended and designed to regulate the use of land and structures for the purposes authorized by the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act[1] and pursuant to the guiding principles, goals and policies of the Master Plan.

A. 
The provisions of this chapter shall be held to be minimum requirements adopted for the promotion of the public health, safety and general welfare. Wherever the requirements of this chapter are at variance with the requirements of any other lawfully adopted rules, regulations or ordinances, the most restrictive or that imposing the higher standards shall govern.
B. 
The chapter shall not abrogate or annul any easement, covenant or other private agreement. Where any provision of this chapter is more restrictive or imposes a higher standard or requirement than such easement, covenant or other private agreement, the provision of this chapter shall govern.
C. 
Zoning applies to every building, structure or use. No building, structure or land shall be used or occupied, and no building or structure or part thereof shall be erected, moved, placed, reconstructed, extended, enlarged or altered, except in conformity with this chapter.
