There is hereby established an advisory commission on green initiatives under the Sustainable Jersey program. This advisory commission will be known as the Green Team and will be a subcommittee of the Environmental Commission reporting to the Chair of the Commission. Green Team membership will consist of members of the Commission and any interested residents of Hamilton Township appointed by the Mayor, subject to Council's advice and consent.
The members of the Green Team shall choose annually from among its members a chairperson and such other sub-chairs as they may deem necessary.
Members shall serve for three years. Any appointment to fill a vacancy shall be for the unexpired term of that member only.
The Green Team shall be responsible for advising the Mayor and Council through the Chair of the Commission on how to best focus the Township's efforts to improve its environmental sustainability and pursue local initiatives and actions that will lead to Sustainable Jersey Municipal Certification.
The Green Team shall meet at least monthly at a time and place determined by the membership.
There shall be appropriated in each annual budget of the Township such sum as may be determined by the Mayor and Council to be necessary for the purposes of providing the sole source of funding to administer the Green Team.
The Green Team shall make an annual report of its activities to the Chair of the Commission and periodically make such recommendations as may be necessary to carry out the purposes set out in this article.
