The Borough of Pine Grove, by this chapter, grants the Board
of Directors of the Pine Grove Area School District the authority
to assume the hiring and oversight, including dismissal, of school
crossing guards.
The Borough of Pine Grove's Police Department may provide
such training and assistance to the school crossing guards while on
duty, as requested by the Pine Grove Area School District to the Borough
of Pine Grove's Chief of Police, from time to time.
Such school crossing guards to be authorized only in the management
of traffic and pedestrians in and around areas identified by the Police
Department and the School District Superintendent or his or her designees.
The school crossing guards shall not fall within any civil service
provision of the Municipal Code, nor shall they fall under any bargaining
unit of the Borough of Pine Grove nor be considered an employee of
the Borough of Pine Grove.
The Borough of Pine Grove and the Board of School Directors
of the Pine Grove Area School District shall share the costs equally
of compensation and equipment for school crossing guards. Said compensation
to be established by the Board of School Directors of the Pine Grove
Area School District.
