There is
hereby established a Public Events Committee which shall consist of
such number of members as may be determined by the Mayor and Borough
Council. All members shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the advice
and consent of the Borough Council, and shall serve a term of one
year from January 1 to December 31. All members shall be residents
of the Borough of Wood-Ridge, except that any official, officer, or
employee of the Borough of Wood-Ridge or the Wood-Ridge Board of Education
may be appointed regardless of their residency. Additionally, the
Borough Council annually shall appoint a Committee Secretary and as
many as three of its members as Council liaisons with all rights and
privileges of membership on the Committee.
The Committee
shall organize annually every January, at which time it shall elect
from amongst its members a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson, respectively,
and shall establish a meeting schedule for the year of at least four
regular public meetings. The Committee's Secretary shall be responsible
for preparing meeting notices and agendas and keeping and maintaining
the minutes of every regular public meeting of the Committee.
The Committee
shall be responsible for assisting in the planning, administration,
supervision, hosting, and publicizing of community celebrations, events,
and programs in the Borough. The Committee may establish subcommittees
and subcommittee officers for specific celebrations, events, and/or
programs and/or duties, which may consist of any number of members,
including persons who are not members of the Public Events Committee.
The Mayor and the members of the Borough Council may serve as ex officio
members of any subcommittee.
The authority
for appropriating any funds, hiring any employees, or entering into
any contracts or agreements related to the operations of the Committee
or hosting of any public celebrations, events, and/or programs shall
reside with the Mayor and Borough Council who shall establish an annual
budget for such purposes and may delegate any of said authorities
to the Borough Administrator as may be permitted by law.
