Notwithstanding the provisions of § 24 of the Town Law, the term of office of the Superintendent of Highways in the Town of Lockport elected at the election in November 1997 and of all Superintendents of Highways in the Town of Lockport elected thereafter shall be four years.
This article shall be subject to a mandatory referendum and shall take effect, subject to compliance with the provisions of § 23, Subdivision 1, of the Municipal Home Rule Law, when filed in the office of the Secretary of State pursuant to § 27 of such law.[1]
