This article shall apply to the application of flammable or combustible paint, varnish, lacquer, stain or other flammable or combustible liquid applied as a spray in continuous or intermittent processes and to dip tank operations in which articles or materials are passed through contents of tanks, vats or containers of flammable or combustible liquids, including coating, finishing, treating and similar processes.
A. 
All applications for installation of spraying equipment, compressors, air storage tanks and storage of flammable liquids shall be made to the Bureau of Fire Prevention, giving the following information:
(1) 
Name and address of applicant.
(2) 
Location where spraying equipment or its adjuncts are to be installed.
(3) 
Maximum quantity of flammable liquids to be stored.
(4) 
Name of spraying device, by whom manufactured and where.
(5) 
Name of firm making installation.
(6) 
A sketch or plan showing clearly thereon the following;
(a) 
Location of building or buildings where finishing shop is to be located.
(b) 
Nature of construction, dimension of buildings and purposes for which used.
B. 
The Bureau of Fire Prevention may require the foregoing information to be furnished upon and in accordance with uniform blanks furnished by the Bureau.

No person shall install any spraying equipment except such as has been approved by the Bureau of Fire Prevention and as shall also comply with the requirements of the Department of Labor of them State of New York, Division of Hygiene. No spraying equipment may be used until it shall have been inspected and approved by the Bureau of Fire Prevention.
A. 
Application for such inspection shall be made in writing on a form furnished by the Bureau of Fire Prevention, and a fee of $60 for each inspection shall accompany the application.

B. 
A permit issued pursuant to this article shall at all times be subject to inspection by any officer or member of the Bureau of Fire Prevention, such permit to expire December 31 of each year.
C. 
This permit shall state specifically the applicant's name, the maximum amount of flammable liquids to be stored and the premises where it is to be stored.
D. 
A permit for the storage and use of flammable liquids may be issued by the Bureau of Fire Prevention.
E. 
The Fire Commissioner may at any time modify, suspend or revoke any such permit upon certification to him by the Chief of the Fire Department.
