[HISTORY: Adopted by the Common Council of the City of Middletown 11-7-1977 by Res. No. 180. Amendments noted where applicable.]
A systematic review procedure is authorized to process requests for exclusion from Fire Districts 1 and 2 for wooden frame buildings.
A staff committee from Planning and Zoning, Public Works, Municipal Development, Building Inspector and applicable Fire Chief will conduct the first level of review using forms and criteria as established by the Municipal Development Committee.
Such staff committee will submit its recommendations, in writing, to the Municipal Development Committee within 30 days of receipt of a proper application.
The Municipal Development Committee will then consider such comments and submit a recommendation to the Common Council.
Any exclusions from Fire Districts 1 and 2 should be guided by the following principles:
The exclusion from a fire district is only for the life of the existing building.
The special conditions and requirements do not supersede any other requirements of applicable state or local codes and ordinances.
The Building Inspector's office shall be granted full authority to impose any special conditions and requirements as they relate to the exclusion of a property or building from either Fire District 1 or Fire District 2.
