As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meaning indicated:
COMMERCIAL ADVERTISING MATERIAL
Advertisements for goods or services unaccompanied by editorial matter.
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to distribute commercial advertising material at a residence within the Township of Shaler by placing such material at or on the residence or on the residential mailbox of the person owning or occupying the residence, unless the person, firm or corporation distributing such commercial advertising material does so with the affirmative request or consent of the person occupying the residence. The foregoing provision shall not apply to the distribution of commercial advertising material through the United States Mail service.

Any person, firm, corporation or group of individuals found in violation of the article shall, upon conviction thereof before any issuing authority, be subject to a fine of up to $600 and may be sentenced to a period of incarceration not exceeding 90 days in the Allegheny County Jail. Each incident in violation of this article shall be considered a separate offense and may be punishable as such.
