The Emsworth Volunteer Fire Company is hereby recognized as the fire protection agency of the Borough of Emsworth and is authorized to use such fire protection equipment as has heretofore been and may hereafter be provided by the Borough for such purpose.
The Fire Company is authorized to use Borough-owned fire equipment in connection with all activities and functions authorized by its charter and approved by its Board of Directors.
The Fire Company shall permit only members in good standing according to its rules and regulations to use Borough-owned fire equipment for any purpose, and Borough motor vehicles provided for fire-fighting purposes shall be operated only by such members of the Fire Company as may be approved by the officers and Board of Directors of the Fire Company in accordance with its established rules and regulations. The Fire Company shall, prior to the regular Council meeting in the month of February of each year, supply Borough Council with a list of motor vehicle operators approved for the current year and shall promptly notify Borough Council of any additions or deletions to said list that may occur during the year.
The Fire Company shall maintain all Borough-owned fire equipment in a clean and orderly condition and shall promptly notify Borough Council through its Fire and Water Committee of any defects which may appear in said equipment and shall also make recommendations as the Fire Company deems proper for repairs or additional equipment. The expense of maintaining, repairing and replacing Borough-owned equipment shall be the sole responsibility of the Borough.
