For the purposes of this Article, the following terms, phrases and words shall have the meanings given herein:
CITY
Canton, Missouri.
CUSTODIAN
Any person over the age of twenty-one (21) years who is in loca parentis to a juvenile.
GUARDIAN
Any person other than a parent who has legal guardianship of a minor.
MINOR
Any person under the age of seventeen (17) years.
PARENT
The natural or adoptive parent of a minor.
PUBLIC PLACE
Any street, alley, highway, sidewalk, park, playground or place to which the general public has access and a right to resort for business, entertainment or other lawful purpose. A public place shall include, but not be limited to, any store, shop, restaurant, tavern, bowling alley, cafe, pool room, and any other place devoted to the amusement or entertainment of the general public. It shall also include the front or immediate area of the above.

A. 
It shall be unlawful for any minor to remain, idle, wander, stroll or play in any public place either on foot or to cruise about without a set destination in any vehicle in, about or upon any place in the City of Canton, Missouri, between the hours of 12:00 Midnight and 6:00 A.M.
B. 
Exceptions shall be the minor is accompanied by parent, guardian or custodian, or unless the minor is on an emergency errand, or has a specific business or activity directed or permitted by his/her parents, guardian or custodian.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation operating or having charge of any public place to knowingly permit or suffer the presence of minors under the age of seventeen (17) years between the hours of 12:00 Midnight and 6:00 A.M.

It shall be unlawful for the parent, guardian or custodian to permit or by inefficient control to allow such minor to be on any public property within the City of Canton between the hours of 12:00 Midnight and 6:00 A.M. The provisions of this Section, however, do not apply to those minors listed in Section 215.585(B).

Any minor attending a special function or entertainment of any church, school, club or other organization that requires such minor to be out after the time of 12:00 Midnight shall be exempt, provided that minors that attend such special functions shall be required to be in their homes or usual places of abode within one (1) hour after the special function has ended.

A. 
Any Police Officer of the City of Canton upon finding a minor in violation of this Chapter shall ascertain the name and address of such minor and warn the minor that he/she is in violation of this Chapter and shall direct the minor to proceed at once to his/her home or usual place of abode. The Police Officer shall immediately attempt to notify the parent, guardian or person having custody or control of such minor.
B. 
If such minor refuses to heed such warning or direction of any Police Officer of the City of Canton, or refuses to give such Police Officer his/her correct name and address, and the names of his/her parents, guardian or custodian, or if the minor has been warned on a previous occasion that he/she is in violation of curfew, the minor shall be released to the juvenile authorities of Lewis County, Missouri.
