A. 
Fencing For Swimming Pools Required. Every private outdoor swimming pool or family pool with a depth of eighteen (18) inches or more in the City of Canton, Missouri, shall be completely surrounded by a fence or wall not less than four (4) feet in height.
B. 
Fence Specifications. All fences constructed pursuant to the provisions of this Section shall be constructed so that any gap in the fence will be no larger than four (4) inches in any dimension, with the exception of doors or gates. All gates and doors shall be equipped with a self-closing and self-latching device for keeping the door securely closed at all times when not in actual use. All latches on gates and doors will be placed at a high point on the gate or door so that children will not be able to easily reach them. A dwelling house or accessory building may be used as part of the enclosure.
C. 
Effectiveness Of These Requirements. These requirements shall be immediately applicable to all existing private or family owned swimming pools presently existing in the City of Canton, Missouri, which shall have a depth of eighteen (18) inches or more and all new swimming pools hereafter constructed in the City of Canton, Missouri, having a depth of eighteen (18) inches or more.
D. 
Penalties For Violation. All persons convicted of violating the terms of this Section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be subject to the penalties prescribed in Section 100.220 of the City Code.

A. 
Application Of Requirements Of This Section. The provisions of this Section shall be applicable to private garages, accessory buildings or outbuildings located in the following zoning districts of the City as defined and specified in Chapter 405 of the Municipal Code of the City of Canton, Missouri.
1. 
"R-1"—One-Family Dwelling District;
2. 
"R-2"—One-Family Dwelling District;
3. 
"R-3"—Multiple-Family Dwelling District;
4. 
"R-4"—Multiple Home Dwelling District.
B. 
Definitions. As used in this Section, the following terms shall have the following definitions:
ACCESSORY BUILDING
A building whose purpose is incidental and subordinate to the principal use of the main building located on the same lot and which is a permanent structure.
CITY
City of Canton, Missouri.
OUTBUILDING
Any structure permanently affixed to the real property on which the principal building is located being affixed by a concrete pad, buried poles or beams, or metal or nylon tie downs.
PRIVATE GARAGE
An accessory building housing not to exceed four (4) motor-driven vehicles, the property of and for the use of the occupants of the lot on which the private garage is located.
C. 
Construction Standards For Private Garages, Accessory Buildings And Outbuildings. All private garages, accessory buildings and outbuildings as herein defined shall be subject to the following construction requirements and building material requirements:
1. 
On all dwelling district lots with less than fifteen thousand (15,000) square feet of space, sidewalls must not exceed a height from ground surface level to the top of the wall of ten (10) feet.
2. 
On all dwelling district lots of fifteen thousand (15,000) square feet of space or more, sidewalls must not exceed a height from ground surface level to the top of the wall of twelve (12) feet.
3. 
Sidewalls must be covered with masonry brick (not uncolored cement block), colored siding of wood, vinyl, Dryvit or metal.
4. 
On all dwelling district lots of less than fifteen thousand (15,000) square feet of space, no door opening or entrance of any kind to a private garage, accessory building or outbuilding, whether swinging, overhead or sliding, shall exceed a height of eight (8) feet.
5. 
On all dwelling district lots of fifteen thousand (15,000) square feet of space or more, no door opening or entrance of any kind to a private garage, accessory building or outbuilding, whether swinging, overhead or sliding, shall exceed a height of ten (10) feet.
6. 
The minimum pitch of the roof shall not be less than 4:12.

The roofing material must be either HUD approved shingles or permanently colored metal.
