There is hereby created the Jackson Township Police Department.
All police officers duly appointed by the Board shall be deemed to
be a part of it. Its offices and mailing address shall be at the Township
Municipal Building and address unless another place or address shall
be designated by the Board.
The Board hereby grants unto said Jackson Township Police Department
all powers, duties and responsibilities to the fullest extent permitted
by law.

The Jackson Township Police Department shall be under the control
and supervision of the Board of Supervisors. The Board of Supervisors
shall by resolution duly adopted at a public meeting appoint an individual
to the position of Chief of Police. The Chief of Police shall have
the duty and power to supervise the day-to-day functioning of the
Jackson Township Police Department with regard to all matters, including,
but not limited to, scheduling, supervision of police activities,
standard operating procedures, salaries, equipment, preparing application
forms for new applicants, investigating new applicants, discipline
and such other activities as the Chief may deem reasonable and necessary
for the proper administration of an efficient Police Department. Where
the position of Chief of Police is vacant, the Board shall have the
duty and power to supervise the day-to-day functioning of the Township
Police Department and, at its discretion, may, by resolution duly
adopted at a public meeting, delegate all or portions of its duties
and powers with respect to the Jackson Township Police Department
to a designee.

The Chief of Police shall be responsible for promulgating, revising
and maintaining standard operating procedures for the Township Police
Department, subject to approval by the Board of Supervisors.

The appropriate officials of the Township are authorized and
directed to establish and maintain a pension plan for the police employees
of the Township, which shall comply with the laws of the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania and the United States of America.
