Editor's Note: Former Art. XIII of Ch. 5 of the 1981 Revised Code, Department of Building Construction, which previously preceded this article, added 10-11-1978 by Ord. No. MC 2548, was repealed 8-24-1982 by Ord. No. MC 2666. Section 1 of said Ord. No. MC 2666 read as follows: "SECTION 1. The Department of Building Construction created pursuant to Ordinance No. MC 2548 is hereby abolished. All of the functions, powers and duties of the Department of Building Construction are hereby transferred and assigned to the Department of Public Works, Division of Building Inspection. To effectuate such transfer, all officers and employees, all appropriations, to the extent of remaining unexpended or unencumbered balances thereof, and all books, papers and records of said Department of Building Construction are hereby transferred to the Department of Public Works, Division of Building Inspection." Former Art. XIV of Ch. 5 of the 1981 Revised Code, Division of Welfare, as amended, which previously preceded this article, and which superseded former Art. XIV, Local Assistance Board, was repealed 5-28-1997 by Ord. No. MC 3068. (Said ordinance was vetoed by the Mayor 6-4-1997 and overridden by a two-thirds vote of Council 6-24-1997.) This ordinance further provided that, as of 1-1-1998, the Division of Welfare is abolished, and the Township will transfer its general assistance program to the County of Essex for county administration of said program.
Pursuant to the provisions of the Local Housing Authorities
Law, as amended, a body corporate and politic to be known as the "Housing
Authority of the Town of Irvington" is hereby created and established.
