No person shall operate any vehicle classified as a "heavy traffic" vehicle by § 615-32of this article over any streets in the City, except the following named streets, which are hereby designated as heavy traffic routes:

For the purpose of this article, the following terms shall have the meanings given:
HEAVY TRAFFIC
All vehicles not operating completely on pneumatic tires and all vehicles or combination of vehicles, other than motor buses, designed or used for transporting property of any nature and having a gross weight of more than 6,000 pounds.
Nothing herein shall prohibit heavy traffic from using a street for the purpose of obtaining orders for supplies or moving or delivering supplies or commodities to or from any place of business or residence fronting on such street. Truck delivery or pickup of supplies from businesses or other addresses not on heavy traffic routes shall be made by the shortest, most practical route from and to the heavy traffic routes listed herein.

Any street or highway designated herein as a heavy traffic route shall be marked with appropriate signs giving notice thereof.
