[Adopted 11-22-1957 by Ord. No. 317 (Ch. 70, Art. III, Part 3, of the 1971 Code)]
If the owner or occupant of any premises shall neglect or fail to pay, for a period of 60 days from the date thereof, any sewer rental or charge for sewer, sewage or sewage treatment service imposed by the Borough, the Columbia Water Company, Columbia, Pennsylvania, is hereby authorized and requested at the request and direction of the Borough of Columbia to shut off the supply of water to such premises until all such overdue rental rates and charges, together with any penalties and interest thereof, shall be paid.
The Borough of Columbia will formally request the discontinuance of such water service in writing, signed by the Chairman of the Sewer Committee and/or the Sewer Manager, and on such request will agree to save harmless the said Columbia Water Company from any claims by reason of such discontinuance. The Borough of Columbia also agrees to pay to the Columbia Water Company their standard fee for each shutoff, and an additional standard fee when service is restored. This charge will be collected with overdue rental rates.
This article need not be enforced in exceptional or hardship eases, but shall be determined by the Chairman of the Sewer Committee and/or the Sewer Manager.
