The provisions of this chapter imposing a time
limit on parking shall not relieve any person of the duty to observe
other more restrictive provisions prohibiting or limiting the stopping,
standing or parking of vehicles as set forth in N.J.S.A. 39:4-138,
or any other New Jersey statute or as hereinafter provided.
A.
Upon the declaration of an emergency, there shall
be no parking upon streets or portions of streets where temporary
EMERGENCY NO PARKING signs are displayed. The Chief of Police, or
in his absence the highest ranking police officer of the Margate City
Police Department, is authorized to declare an emergency and to direct
the posting of EMERGENCY NO PARKING signs when weather conditions,
accidents, road construction, fire or public celebration dictate or
require avoidance of hazards or other conditions which interfere with
the free flow of traffic. Notification that EMERGENCY NO PARKING signs
are being or will be posted shall be given to the operator or owner
of any vehicle which has been parked prior to the posting of any sign.
B.
The effectiveness of this section is contingent upon
the signs being erected as required by law.
C.
The penalty for violation of this section shall be
$30 per violation.

that it covers the roadways, an emergency shall exist and no vehicles

A.
The two-hour maximum parking limits shall be in effect
from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from the Friday before Memorial Day to
September 30 of each year, both dates inclusive. The fifteen-minute
maximum time limit presently affecting sections of Franklin Avenue
and Washington Avenue will be in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
at all times during the year. Furthermore, the fifteen-minute maximum
time limit affecting the east side of the 200 Block North Washington
Avenue will be in effect at all times during the year.

The owners of the premises referred to in §§ 257-17, 257-18 and 257-19 above shall provide and install all signs and pavement markings for each parking space reserved for the use of handicapped persons. Such signs and markings shall be in accordance with the MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways). The costs of procurement and installation of the signs and pavement markings shall be the responsibility of the owner of said property. The owner shall, subsequent to procurement and installation, maintain such signs and pavement markings in good condition at no cost or expense to the City of Margate City. The owner shall be responsible for the repair and restoration or replacement of same.

No commercial vehicle and no vehicle with a
rated capacity of greater than one ton shall be parked out-of-doors
overnight in any district in Margate City; provided, however, that
such restriction shall not apply to one commercial motor vehicle of
a rated capacity of one ton or less, owned or used by a resident of
a single-family home to go to and from business, which vehicle may
be parked or garaged overnight on any premises within a residential
zone. In the absence of a garage or driveway, or both, on a given
premises, the owner or inhabitant of the premises may park one commercial
motor vehicle, as described above, on the street in front of the premises.

The penalty for violation of this section shall be

A.
Parking permits will be issued to the vehicle described
and person named.
B.
A permit allows a vehicle/person to be exempted from
the parking time limit only.
C.
Permits will be issued to residents who complete an
application showing that there exists a real hardship: they do not
have any off-street parking available.
D.
Permits will be issued to residents who live in an
area that has time-limit parking.
E.
Permits will be honored on the same block as the address
where issued.
F.
The Margate City Police Department will investigate
each applicant to determine if he or she qualifies.
G.
All permits will be issued by a registration number
and shall be in effect the Friday before Memorial Day to September
30, both days inclusive, during the year that said permit is issued.
H.
Permits are not transferable.
I.
Permits will be displayed inside the lower left windshield.
J.
All permits will be issued by the Chief of Police
at a charge of $5 each.
K.
The City of Margate City will not be responsible for
lost or stolen permits, and the cost of replacement is $25.
