There shall be in the Borough of Maywood an office of the Municipal Attorney, the appointee of which shall be designated the "Borough Attorney."
The Borough Attorney shall be appointed annually by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Maywood for a term of one year, as provided by law.
It shall be the duty of the Borough Attorney to render legal advice and assistance to the Mayor and Council as it shall from time to time direct. It shall be the further duty of the Borough Attorney to represent the Borough of Maywood as its legal officer in all matters wherein the borough is required to be represented by legal counsel, unless and except as otherwise directed by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Maywood.
Nothing herein shall be construed as eliminating the necessity for a resolution authorizing the award of contracts for professional services without competitive bids and the advertising thereof, pursuant to the Local Public Contracts Law, N.J.S.A. 40A:11-1 et seq.
