The term of office of the Tax Collector of the Town of Greenport shall be four years. Such four-year term shall commence on the first day of January following the first biennial Town election after the effective date of this chapter.
At the biennial Town election next following the effective date of this chapter and every four years thereafter, the Tax Collector shall be elected for a term of four years.
This chapter shall be submitted for approval to the electors of the Town of Greenport at the next election held not less than 60 days after its adoption.[1]

This chapter shall take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State after approval by a majority of the electors voting thereon in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Home Rule Law, § 23.
