A Municipal Court is hereby established under Chapter 8 of Title 2A of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey and as amended and supplemented.
The name of the Court shall be "Municipal Court of the Borough of Chester."
The Municipal Court shall have and exercise the limited civil and criminal jurisdiction prescribed by Chapter 8 of Title 2A of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey and as amended and supplemented from time to time.
The Court shall have a judge who shall be known as the "Municipal Judge."

The position of Municipal Public Defender is hereby established so that persons applying for representation by a Municipal Public Defender may avail themselves of said service. Applicants requesting representation by the Municipal Public Defender shall pay an application fee of not more than $200 in accordance with the provisions of P.L. 1997 c. 256. The Municipal Court may waive any required application fee, in whole or in part, if the Court determines, in its discretion, upon a clear and convincing showing by the applicant that the application fee represents an unreasonable burden on the person seeking representation.
