A.
Temporary service may be supplied by the Light and Power Department, where and when said Department has available facilities.
B.
Temporary service shall be supplied at the rate applicable to such service, with an additional charge for service connection and disconnection upon discontinuance of service. The charge for such connection and disconnection shall be based upon the cost of providing and removing such service, but in no case shall be less than $50.
A written application for service under any of the established rate schedules of the Light and Power Department shall be required from each customer, and on the basis of such application, a contract for service shall be entered into between the Borough and such customer. The customer shall complete a load data sheet at the time application is made for service. A reasonable deposit or a suitable guaranty of security may be required of any customer and shall be required of every applicant for temporary service and of every person not previously a customer. The deposit required for temporary service shall not be less than $100 or the maximum estimated bill that would be rendered for the period of temporary service, whichever is greater. In the case of an applicant for permanent service, the deposit required shall not be less than $100 nor more than the maximum estimated bill that would be rendered for 60 days' service at the applicable rate or rates. Upon discontinuance of service, the deposit shall be refunded, less the amount of any indebtedness of the customer to the Borough of Lehighton.
A customer of residential service may, upon written application, and approval of property owner, have his service disconnected and reconnected at any time. In every case, a disconnection charge shall be based upon the cost of disconnection, but in no case shall it be less than $35. If reconnection is requested, the charge shall be based upon the cost of reconnection, but in no case shall it be less than $35.
Bills for electric service shall be rendered to customers by the Light and Power Department at approximately one-month intervals. Upon, failure, refusal or neglect of any customer to pay for electrical service within the time period established in Article XIII of this chapter, electric service to the premises for which such bill was rendered shall be discontinued. Where service shall have been discontinued for nonpayment of any bill, reconnection shall not be made until all outstanding bills have been paid and, in addition, charges for disconnection and reconnection have been paid in cash or certified check as required in § 92-8.
The Borough of Lehighton, through its Light and Power Department, hereby reserves the right to interrupt the supply of electricity for any of the reasons identified in Article XIII of this chapter.
