No person shall, except in necessary defense of person, discharge any gun, firearm, arrow, or device capable of launching projectiles within the City of Monessen.
This chapter shall not prohibit the lawful discharge of any gun, firearm or device capable of launching projectiles on a firing range for which an occupancy permit has been issued by the City and which meets or exceeds the standards and specifications established by the National Rifle Association for the construction of a firing range, nor shall this chapter prohibit the discharge of an arrow upon an archery range or on private property in the City with the property owner's consent.
Any person who violates any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof in a summary proceeding before any District Justice having jurisdiction of such offense, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $300 or to undergo imprisonment not exceeding 90 days, or both.
The definitions applicable to this chapter shall be those set forth in Section 102 of the Game and Wildlife Code, 34 Pa.C.S.A. § 102.
This chapter is not intended to supersede or conflict with the Game and Wildlife Code, 34 Pa.C.S.A. § 101-2965, as amended.
