The annual salaries or wages of officers and employees of the Township shall be determined annually by salary ordinance of the Mayor and Council within the minimum and maximum base salary range established by ordinance of the Township Council.
All salaries or compensation established by the Mayor and Council shall be in lieu of any and all fees or other compensation.
A.
Overtime, when duly authorized, shall be paid at the rate of 1 1/2 times the employee's hourly rate of pay. When the rate of pay is expressed as a yearly amount, overtime shall be computed by dividing the base salary by 2,080 to establish the hourly rate.
B.
Overtime compensation shall not be authorized for any employee working less than eight hours per regular working day.
All salaries, wages or compensation established by the Mayor and Council shall be payable, except as otherwise provided, twice every month so as to have 24 equal pay periods (less proper deductions) within the year. Overtime shall be paid for in the period subsequent to the period in which it is earned.
The Township may, at the sole discretion of the Township or as may otherwise be provided by law, provide and pay for group insurance coverage for accident and sickness, hospitalization, medical/surgical and/or medical on such terms and at such rates as may be determined and recommended by the Mayor and Council. The exact scope of such insurance benefits and the extent of the premium to be paid by a participating employee shall be determined annually from time to time by the Mayor and Council. Such benefits are available only to full-time employees who have completed any required probationary periods. Any Township employee may elect to participate in such insurance programs at such employee's sole cost and expense.
As additional compensation, upon approved course completion, the Township will pay full tuition and cost of the necessary books and equipment for any courses or training sessions which any employee wishing to improve his or her qualifications in the job in which he or she is employed by the Township desires to attend, provided that formal application is made and the Mayor and Council approve the course and attendance by the applicant.
Where an employee of the Township is assigned to several duties, unless specific compensation is established by the Mayor and Council, the employee shall perform such duties for the salary, wage or compensation provided for the title which is the employee's primary function.
