The Township Water Superintendent, his authorized representative,
any authorized Township employee or official or any person or persons
designated by the Township Committee may, at all reasonable hours,
enter the premises of any water consumer and examine the pipes, fixture
and meter, read the meter and make tests and repairs or remove or
replace the meter when deemed necessary by the Township. Leakage and
wastage of water discovered by such inspection shall be immediately
remedied by the responsible party after written notice thereof served
upon or mailed to such party.
No person, other than an employee of the Township, shall remove,
replace or in any manner interfere with a meter attached to a water
pipe used or intended to be used to supply water to any premises.
This prohibition applies whether the meter is set within or without
a building or whether or not owned by the Township.
No person shall be entitled to damages or the rebate of any
portion of payment due for any stoppage of supply occasioned by accident,
addition or repair to any portion of the water system.
All consumers having boilers upon their premises which depend
upon the pressure in water mains and pipes of the Township to keep
them supplied are hereby cautioned against the danger of collapse,
and all such damage shall be borne exclusively by the owner. Under
no circumstances will the Township be responsible for any accidents
to pipes, fixtures or property caused by the turning on or off of
water for any cause whatsoever. To provide against accidents to hot-water
boilers and heaters, a safety valve shall be installed to relieve
excessive steam pressure, or a tank shall be provided and so arranged
as to keep the supply of water in such boiler or heater when water
supply from the main is discontinued.
