GENERAL REFERENCES

The following words shall, for the purpose of this chapter,
have the meanings herein indicated.
- FIREARM
- A pistol, revolver, shotgun, rifle or any other weapon which acts by the force of gunpowder or from which a shot or other projectile is discharged by the force of an explosion.
- HUNTING INSTRUMENT
- Any type of firearm, bow and arrow, crossbow or mechanically propelled arrow, pike, blade or harpoon.
No person shall discharge any hunting instrument, firearm, gun
or air rifle, air pistol or any gun capable of discharging pellets,
darts, BBs or other projectiles by spring, compressed air or compressed
gas within the corporate limits of the Village of Huntington Bay.
This chapter shall not apply to police officers acting in the discharge
of their duties.
No firearm covered by this chapter shall be carried in or through
the Village of Huntington Bay unless it is completely contained within
a case or other covering completely encompassing the firearm.
Each offense against the provisions of this chapter or article
shall constitute a violation pursuant to the Penal Law of the State
of New York and shall be punishable as such. Any person or persons
violating any provisions of this chapter shall be liable for and pay
a fine of not less than $250 for a conviction on a first offense and
not more than $1,000 for a conviction on each subsequent offense.
