The Township Council acknowledges the historical, environmental
and educational benefits of preserving the Morris Canal and recognizing
the Canal's impact on the Township of Bloomfield and its inhabitants.
In order to implement the preservation and recognition of the historical,
environment and educational benefits of the Morris Canal, the Township
of Bloomfield hereby designates the existing and former bed of the
Morris Canal as Morris Canal Greenway.
There is hereby established the Morris Canal Greenway Committee
which shall consist of seven members whose terms and powers are hereinafter
set forth.
The Morris Canal Greenway Committee shall be comprised of the
following persons:
A. One member of the Township Council of the Township of Bloomfield
appointed by the Township Council.
B. The DPW Director of the Township of Bloomfield appointed by the Township
Council.
C. Three residents of the Township appointed by the Township Council.
D. Two representatives from other organizations that represent active
involvement in the preservation of the Morris Canal in New Jersey
to serve as advisors. The two representatives need not be residents
of the Township.
