This article shall be known as Local Law No. 6 of the year 2008 entitled "Local Law Changing the Meeting Date of the Board of Assessment Review of the Town of Alden."
The State of New York at Real Property Tax Law § 512, Subdivision 1-a, has granted the governing body of an assessing unit, which employs an Assessor who is at the same time employed by another assessing unit, the power to establish a date for the meetings of the Board of Assessment Review other than that provided by state law. The Town of Alden does employ an Assessor who is at the same time employed by another assessing unit.
The Board of Assessment Review for the Town of Alden shall meet on the first Tuesday of June each year and thereafter as may be necessary to discharge its duties.

The purpose of this article is to abolish the office of the Receiver of Taxes and Assessments in the Town of Alden.
The office of Receiver of Taxes and Assessments in the Town of Alden, New York, is hereby abolished, effective December 31, 2011. The powers and duties of that office shall be consolidated with the office of the Town Clerk of the Town of Alden, New York.
This article shall be subject to mandatory referendum at the general election of November 2, 2010.
This article shall take effect upon the affirmative vote of a majority of the qualified electors voting therein at such general election on November 2, 2010, and the filing with the office of the Secretary of State in accordance with the applicable provisions of law, on December 31, 2011.
