These regulations shall be known as the "Fire Prevention Code of the City of Kennett, Missouri," also referred to in said regulations as "this code."

Subject to the provisions hereinafter set forth, a certain document, a copy of which is on file in the office of the City Clerk of Kennett, Missouri, being marked as the International Fire Code, 2012 Edition, as published by the International Code Council be and is hereby adopted as the fire code of the City of Kennett, Missouri, for the control of buildings and structures as herein provided; and each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of the International Fire Code, 2012 Edition, with the exception that Section 903.2.8 Group R thereof which requires sprinkler systems in all single-family and multifamily residential structures shall not apply to any residential structure with less to seven thousand five hundred (7,500) square feet of area and not higher than two (2) stories in height, are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this Chapter.

Wherever the title "Fire Official" is used in said Code, the same shall be construed to mean the Fire Chief or his/her designee of the City of Kennett, Missouri.

Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate a provision of said code or shall fail to comply with any of the requirements thereto shall be subject to a fine of not less than one dollar ($1.00), nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00), or by imprisonment not exceeding thirty (30) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Each day during which a violation continues shall be deemed a separate offense.

Nothing in this Chapter or in the Fire Prevention Code hereby adopted shall be construed to affect any suit or proceeding pending in any court, or any rights acquired, or liability incurred, or any cause or causes of action acquired or existing, under any act or ordinance hereby repealed, nor shall any just or legal right or remedy of any character be lost, impaired, or affected by this Chapter.
