The City Attorney shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Board of Aldermen and shall serve at the pleasure of the Board. The City Attorney shall attend the meetings of the Board of Aldermen, advise the various City Officers, committees and boards upon legal questions pertaining to their respective duties for the City, draw ordinances, deeds, releases, assessments, contracts, bonds and other documents relating to municipal affairs, represent the City in all litigation in the courts and before administrative State and Federal agencies. The City Attorney shall be a lawyer licensed to practice in the courts of the State of Missouri. The City Attorney shall receive such compensation for the performance of his/her duties as may be determined by the Board of Aldermen by ordinance from time to time.
