A. All licensees must have verification of a firearms training certificate
before reporting to the Security Licensing Division.

A licensed corporate security advisor, patrol security officer,
security officer or courier certified by the Jefferson College Law
Enforcement Training Academy, or through an approved training provider
as approved by the Sheriff of the Jefferson County Sheriff's
Office or his designee; must successfully complete an approved firearms
training course to be armed or permitted to carry a weapon while on
duty and in uniform at the location(s) specified in the license where
they may have a firearm.

Firearms carried by licensed corporate security advisor, patrol
security officer, security officer or courier shall be revolvers capable
of firing and loaded with thirty-eight hundredths (0.38) caliber (special)
ammunition, double-action solid frame revolvers [five (5) or six (6)
shot] or semiautomatic pistols up to and including forty hundredths
(0.40) caliber ammunition, double-action only or double/single action,
which are equipped with a decocker or de-cocker safety. Only one (1)
approved handgun may be carried on duty. Certified Police Officers
may carry duty weapons. The carrying of automatics, derringers is
prohibited. The Sheriff of Jefferson County shall have the authority
to review an application for and grant, where appropriate and for
good cause shown, the carrying of additional weapons. A licensee is
authorized to carry only handguns in a strong side hip holster approved
by the Sheriff of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office or his
designee and only if the licensee has qualified with that handgun
as set out herein.

The Sheriff of Jefferson County or their designee may deny a
licensee the opportunity to obtain a license to be armed with a weapon
of any type if, in their discretion, they believe a person or a proposed
firearm does not meet the requirements set out herein or presents
a danger to others.
4.
Licensees may carry patrol rifles under the following terms
and conditions. The only approved rifle will be the semiautomatic
AR15, .223/5.56 caliber firearm. The Sheriff of Jefferson County will
develop and implement such regulations as are necessary regarding
the type, barrel length, trigger system, sights, magazines, slings,
light sources, ammunition regarding the deployment and carrying of
semiautomatic rifles.
5.
Licensees may carry patrol shotguns under the following conditions.
The Sheriff of Jefferson County will develop and implement such regulations
as are necessary regarding the type, barrel length, trigger system,
sights, magazines, slings, light sources, ammunition regarding the
deployment and carrying of shotguns.
6.
A corporate security advisor, patrol security officer, security
officer or courier upon firing his or her weapon for any reason within
the unincorporated area of Jefferson County, or using other force
to make an arrest, shall immediately make or cause to be made a report
to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and to the law enforcement
agency with jurisdiction where the incident occurred.
B. All State requirements for carrying a firearm must be followed.
