As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
FIREARM
Includes a shotgun, air gun, air pistol, spring gun or rifle, rifles and pistols of any caliber or any implement which impels with force a pellet or single projectile of any kind (i.e., bow and arrow, slingshot, crossbow, etc.).
No person shall discharge any firearm or other weapon within the village except in self defense or in the discharge of official duty or during a memorial service or veteran's funeral or at an indoor rifle range operated under the supervision, guidance and instruction of a duly commissioned officer of one of the Armed Forces, including the National Guard and Reserve forces, or a duly qualified adult citizen of the United States who has been granted a certificate as an instructor of small arms practice issued by one of the Armed Forces of the United States, the Adjutant General of the State or by the National Rifle Association of America.
No person shall carry any loaded firearm or other weapon upon any public street or public place as defined by § 240.00 of the Penal Law of the State of New York in the village, except in the discharge of official duty. Firearms loaded with blank ammunition for memorial or funeral services shall not be a violation of this section.
Any person who violates any of the provisions of this chapter shall be guilty of a violation pursuant to the Penal Law and, upon conviction thereof, shall be subject to the fines, penalties and other provisions set forth in Chapter 113.
