The township shall furnish to each probationary fire fighter one complete set of uniform clothing and equipment in accordance with the requirements established by the Township Manager. All such clothing and equipment shall be and remain the property of the township until such time as the probationary fire fighter shall be appointed and become a regular fire fighter of the Department.
Regular members of the Department shall be entitled to receive a sum not in excess of that provided by the Township Council to assist in providing for and maintaining the necessary uniform clothing.

All members of the Department shall receive such personal equipment as may be authorized under this chapter and the rules and regulations or as directed by the Chief. They shall be responsible for the safekeeping, care, maintenance, serviceable condition and proper use of such equipment. Personal equipment shall not be altered or defaced in any manner. Loss of personal equipment shall be promptly reported to the Chief.
All probationary fire fighters and uniformed members of the Department, upon reporting for duty and while on duty, shall wear the uniforms prescribed in the rules and regulations and shall at all times keep the same clean and in a state of good repair. No member of the Department shall wear the uniform or any part of it while not on duty.
In the event that the employment of a probationary fire fighter shall terminate or be terminated for any reason prior to his or her appointment and his or her acceptance of such appointment as a regular fire fighter of the Department, all of his or her uniform clothing and equipment shall be immediately surrendered to the Chief by such probationary fire fighter. All articles of equipment issued to any member of the Department shall be returned to the Department upon the expiration of service due to discharge, retirement, death or resignation.
