The salaries and rates of longevity pay of the members of the Police Department shall be as provided from time to time in an ordinance adopted by the Township Council.
During any period that the Chief of the Department shall be on terminal leave as defined in § 48-52 of Chapter 48, Personnel Regulations, the Manager may designate an officer of the Department as Acting Chief to serve at the pleasure of the Manager; and for the period that such officer is assigned to and is actually performing the duties of Acting Chief, he or she shall be paid at such rate of pay as shall be fixed by the Manager, in writing, which rate of pay shall be not less than the salary applicable to the permanent rank held by such officer and not more than the salary fixed for the position of Chief of the Department for the first year. The provisions of this section shall take effect January 1, 1966.
Due to the additional and irregular hours of duty and the increased hazards of the work, all patrolmen and all officers, other than officers above the rank of Captain, assigned to the Detective Bureau or to the Special Service Bureau shall receive a bonus at the rate of $150 per year, commencing January 1, 1966. Such bonus shall be paid only so long as such member of the Department is actually assigned to and performing duty with the Detective Bureau or with the Special Service Bureau.
