There shall be and there is hereby established the office of Deputy
Treasurer. Said Deputy Treasurer shall be appointed by the Town Council upon
the recommendation of the Town Treasurer, for such term or terms as the Council
may designate. The Deputy Treasurer shall be selected on the basis of integrity
and ability to perform the duties of the office.
The Deputy Treasurer shall assist the Treasurer in all duties pertaining
to his office and shall act for and in behalf of the Treasurer in the latter's
absence or inability to act. Before assuming the duties of his office, the
Deputy Treasurer shall file a bond with the Town Clerk in such amount as the
Council may designate. The compensation for said office shall be established
by the Council.
