As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
LIVESTOCK
Animals kept or propagated for food or as a means of livelihood, including horses, cattle and other hoofed animals; also deer, elk, rabbits and hares, pheasants, quail, partridge and other birds and quadrupeds as determined to be wild. “Livestock” shall not include dogs, cats and other household pets or female chickens (hens) or immature chickens (chicks).
POULTRY
Includes roosters and guinea hens, ducks, geese, turkeys, pigeons and other poultry and domestic birds used for food purposes and does not include female chickens (hens) or immature chickens (chicks).
No person, firm or corporation shall maintain and raise livestock of any kind within the Borough of Wilkinsburg, including cattle, horses, ponies, sheep, pigs and all other animals not ordinarily defined as household pets.

A. 
No person, firm or corporation shall keep and raise poultry within said Borough.
B. 
Each household, firm or corporation shall be permitted to keep and raise female chickens (hens) and immature chickens (chicks) subject to the following conditions:
(1) 
The minimum lot size for the keeping of hens and chicks shall be 2,000 square feet and no more than three hens or chicks may be kept on said lot size.
(2) 
One additional hen or chick shall be permitted for each additional 1,000 square feet of lot size, not to exceed 16 hens and/or chicks in total.
(3) 
No person, firm or corporation shall slaughter any hen or chick in the Borough.
(4) 
Any person, firm or corporation keeping and raising hens and/or chickens must maintain the hens and/or chicks in a clean, healthy and safe environment.
(5) 
Any person, firm or corporation keeping and raising hens and/or chickens shall ensure that no odors or vermin are present.
(6) 
Any person, firm or corporation keeping and raising hens and/or chickens must safely dispose of all waste products through on-site composting.

A. 
Any person who shall be convicted of violating the provisions of this article shall be sentenced to pay a fine not exceeding $1,000 and the costs of prosecution for each and every violation and, in default of payment thereof, to undergo imprisonment not exceeding 30 days. Each day's continuance of a violation of any provision of this article shall constitute a separate violation.
B. 
In addition to fines and imprisonment, any person, firm or corporation which does not maintain a clean and safe environment or whose hens and/or chicks become a nuisance to its neighbors may be subject to hen and/or chick seizure by the Borough.
