Pursuant to the provision of C.G.S. § 7-148, the Town of Old Saybrook herein adopts an ordinance concerning prohibiting of parking of any motor vehicles on Town-maintained highways during snow or ice storms or for 24 hours thereafter under penalty of having said motor vehicles towed away.
The parking of any motor vehicle shall be prohibited within the traveled portion of any Town-maintained highway during snow storms or ice storms and until 24 hours after cessation of the snow storm or ice storm.
Whenever any vehicle is parked in violation of § 202-1, said vehicle may be removed or conveyed by or under the direction of the Chief of Police, police officer or state police officer by means of towing or otherwise removing the vehicle to a public garage at the risk of the owner after reasonable efforts have been made to contact the respective owner of such motor vehicle. Before the owner or person in charge of such vehicle shall be permitted to remove the same from the custody of the Chief of Police, police officer or state policemen, he or she shall furnish evidence of his or her identity and ownership or right to possession and shall sign a receipt for such vehicle. The towing and storage charges shall be paid directly to the owner of the equipment used to remove the vehicle in violation in accordance with the rate established by the Motor Vehicle Department.
A fee of $5 shall be paid to the Town of Old Saybrook for each violation of this article.
