Buildings or structures. The Board of Appeals may
authorize the temporary use of a building, structure or premises in
any district for a purpose or use that does not conform to the regulations
prescribed by this chapter for the district in which it is located;
provided, however, that such use be of a temporary nature and does
not involve the erection of substantial buildings or structures. Such
authorization shall be granted in the form of a temporary and revocable
permit for a period of not more than six months, subject to such conditions
as the Board of Appeals determines will safeguard, protect and preserve
the public health, safety, convenience, and general welfare and will
not be contrary to the purpose and intent of this chapter. Such temporary
use permit shall expire at the end of the six-month period.
Other uses or activities. The Zoning Administrator
may authorize the temporary use of a property in any district for
a temporary short-term activity or use not otherwise conforming to
the regulations prescribed in this chapter for the district in which
it is located to conduct the activity or use for a limited period
of time. Such authorization shall be granted in the form of a temporary
and revocable permit for a period not to exceed three days, subject
to such conditions as the Zoning Administrator determines are necessary
to protect and preserve the public health, safety, convenience and
general welfare and will not be contrary to the purpose and intent
of this chapter. Temporary activities and uses intended to be allowed
under this section include, but shall not be limited to, flea markets,
farmers markets, craft, trade or hobby shows, fairs, and other similar
uses as determined by the Zoning Administrator. This section shall
not apply to City sponsored or sanctioned events or activities.
