Every operator of a vehicle approaching an intersection at which an official traffic control device is erected in accordance with this chapter shall obey the direction of such official traffic control device as required by the Wisconsin Statutes incorporated by reference in § 288-1 of this chapter. Operators of vehicles approaching a stop sign shall stop before entering a highway as required by § 346.46, Wis. Stats. Operators approaching intersections at which a yield sign has been installed shall yield the right-of-way to other vehicles as required by § 346.18(6), Wis. Stats.
The Chief of Police or Director of Public Works shall have the authority to impose special or seasonal weight limits on any highway, bridge or culvert maintained by the Village to prevent injury to the roadway or for the safety of the users of such bridge or culvert and shall be responsible for erecting uniform traffic control devices giving notice thereof in accordance with the provisions of § 288-3.
In the interest of public safety and pursuant to § 349.07, Wis. Stats., the following streets or portions thereof are declared to be through highways, and vehicles approaching such streets shall stop and yield the right-of-way. Traffic signs or signals giving notice thereof shall be erected by the Village in accordance with § 288-3.

State statutes adopted. Sections 346.57, 346.58 and 346.59, Wis. Stats., relating to the minimum and maximum speed of vehicles, are adopted as part of this chapter, except as provided in this section.
B. 
Speed limit modifications.
(1) 
State Highway 69.

(a) 
Thirty-five miles per hour from a point 560 feet south of its intersection with 14th Avenue northerly to a point 460 feet south of its intersection with County Highway W.
(b) 
Forty-five miles per hour from a point 460 feet south of its intersection with County Highway W northerly to a point 300 feet north of its intersection with Industrial Drive.
(c) 
Fifty-five miles per hour on all other portions of State Highway 69 within the Village.
(2) 
Elmer Road. Twenty-five miles per hour from the intersection of Kubly Road and Elmer Road south to the Village limits.

County Trunk Highway W. Forty miles per hour within the Village limits.
(4) 
State Highway 39. Thirty-five miles per hour from Durst Road westerly.

School zones. Fifteen miles per hour when children are present as follows:

On Second Street from 13th Avenue to 0.1 mile south of the high school parking lot.
(2) 
On Sixth Avenue from Sixth Street to Third Street.
(3) 
Seventh Avenue from Third Street to Fifth Street.
(4) 
Fifth Street from Fifth Avenue to a point 75 feet south of Seventh Avenue.
(5) 
14th Avenue from Railroad Street to Fourth Street.
(6) 
Third Avenue from 100 feet east of Sixth Street to Eighth Street.
(7) 
Sixth Street from Third Avenue to Second Avenue.
