The Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Borough Council, shall provide for the appointment of a Tax Assessor and such Deputy Tax Assessors as he may determine necessary, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:9-146.
The provisions of any other law to the contrary not withstanding, the Borough Tax Assessor shall be appointed pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40A:9-146 and his or her term of office, powers and duties shall be as provided in said Act.
A. 
The Borough Tax Assessor shall hold a tax assessor certificate provided for in P.L. 1967, c. 44 (N.J.S.A. 54:1-35.25 et seq.), and shall have the duty of assessing property for the purpose of general taxation.
B. 
The Deputy Tax Assessor shall hold a tax assessor certificate and shall act under the direct supervision of and assist the Borough Tax Assessor.
A. 
The Borough Tax Assessor and Deputy Tax Assessor shall hold his or her office for a term of four years from the first day of July following his or her appointment.
B. 
Vacancies other than due to expiration of term shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term.
