There is hereby established in the village the office of Village Constable.
The Village Constable shall have the following powers and authority:
A. 
The Village Constable shall be subject to the general authority and direction of the Board of Trustees under the immediate supervision of the Chief of Police.
B. 
The Village Constable shall attend sessions of the Village Justice Court. The Village Constable shall assist the Village Justice and the Court Clerk in the functioning of the Court and in maintaining order in the courtroom. The Village Constable shall carry out and enforce in the courtroom all orders and directives of the Village Justice.
C. 
The Village Constable must, at all times, be the holder of a valid pistol permit duly issued to him or her pursuant to the laws of the State of New York.
D. 
The Village Constable shall act as court crier when required.
E. 
The office of Village Constable is a part-time office. The hours and times of work shall be as required by the schedule of court sessions of the Village Justice Court.
F. 
The Village Constable must have graduated from a course of training prescribed by the Municipal Police Training Council or must have completed such other training as the Board may deem appropriate.
