[Adopted as Ch. VIII of the Town Bylaws]
Whenever the word "street" or "streets" is mentioned in these bylaws, it shall be understood as meaning all alleys, lanes, courts, public squares and public places, including sidewalks and gutters, unless the contrary is expressed or the construction would be inconsistent with the manifest intent.
A. 
The Road Commissioners shall have control of the streets and ways of the Town.
B. 
The Road Commissioners shall have final authority on the naming of streets in the Town.

They shall cause the names of the several streets to be shown in convenient places in said streets, and no person shall remove, injure or deface said names.
No building shall be removed over a public street without a written permit from the Road Commissioners.
No person shall break the ground in any street or public place for any purpose; nor alter nor change the position or direction of any fence, post, tree or edgestone; nor swing any door or gate in, upon or over, nor change the grade or width of any street or public way, without the written permit of the Road Commissioners; and such permit shall prescribe the restrictions or limitations under which the same is granted.
No person shall leave any wagon, cart or other vehicle, or coal, wood or other articles, in any street and suffer the same to remain overnight, without maintaining a sufficient light over or near the same throughout the night.
No person shall ride upon any vehicle on any sidewalk in the Town.

Whenever the practice of coasting on any of the streets in the Town has become dangerous to the public safety, the Select Board shall post notices in conspicuous places on such streets or sidewalks, forbidding all persons to coast upon the same; and no person shall coast thereon after the posting of such notice.
No person shall throw stones or other missiles; nor play at baseball or football, nor fly any kites, in any of the streets in the Town.[1]

The tenant, and in case there is no tenant, the owner of any building or lot of land bordering on any street where there is a concrete sidewalk shall, within 24 hours after the ceasing to fall of any snow, cause the same to be removed therefrom.

No person shall post nor paint any advertisement of any nature upon any building, fence, guideboard, rock, tree, or other object without the written consent of the Select Board, in case the object is the property of the Town.

No person shall shovel, throw by hand or machine, plow or otherwise cause snow to be placed on any road used by the public as a public way or any Town accepted street, unless prior written permission has been obtained by the Board of Road Commissioners. The owner of said property shall be held responsible for the acts of any contractor employed by them. The fine for each offense shall be $50. Whoever violates any provision of this bylaw may, in the discretion of the enforcing officer, be penalized by a noncriminal complaint pursuant to the provisions of MGL c. 40, § 21D, and the Town's Noncriminal Disposition Bylaw (Chapter 1, General Provisions, Article II, Penalties; Noncriminal Disposition). For the purpose of this provision, the penalty to apply in the event of a violation shall be $50.
A. 
No vehicle shall be parked with one or more wheels resting on any sidewalk, curbing, or grass planting strip in the Town. The grass planting strip is the area between the paved surface of the street and the paved surface of the sidewalk.
B. 
This section does not apply to municipal vehicles engaged in municipal activities nor to emergency vehicles being operated in response to any emergency, nor to contractors having written permission from the Board of Road Commissioners.[1]

No person shall remove, damage, or in any way make a curb cut on any street in the Town without a written permit from the Road Commissioners and according to the specifications for curb cuts and driveways issued by the Road Commissioners. The Road Commissioners shall charge an inspection fee to be set annually by the Commissioners for said permit. Any curb cut constructed without a permit or not constructed according to the specifications issued by the Road Commissioners shall be closed by the Road Commissioners and the person constructing the same shall be liable to the Town for the cost of repairing the curb.

Except as otherwise specifically provided in this bylaw, the penalty for violation of this bylaw shall be $20 for each offense. Whoever violates any provision of this bylaw may, in the discretion of the enforcing officer, be penalized by a noncriminal complaint pursuant to the provisions of MGL c. 40, § 21D, and the Town's Noncriminal Disposition Bylaw (Chapter 1, General Provisions, Article II, Penalties; Noncriminal Disposition).
