A. The
Mayor with the consent of a majority elected to the Board of Aldermen
shall appoint some qualified resident of the City to the office of
Director of Public Works.
B. The
Director of Public Works shall hold office for a term of one (1) year
commencing July 1, 2009 and the first (1st) day of each succeeding
year thereafter and until his/her successor is appointed and qualified.
C. The
office of Director of Public Works shall be a full-time position and
in addition to the dollar compensation herein provided, the Director
of Public Works shall be entitled to and eligible for all benefits
available to full-time employees of the City.
D. The
Director of Public Works shall be the head of the Department of Public
Works, all employees of the department shall be subject to his/her
directive and control in the performance of their duties, he/she shall
be in charge of management and maintenance of all City properties
including, but not limited to, streets, parks, buildings and other
facilities.
E. The
Director of Public Works shall be responsible for enforcement of provisions
of the Zoning Ordinance and all Codes of the City relating to buildings,
property maintenance and all St.Louis County Codes adopted by the
City and cooperate with County personnel in the administration and
enforcement of all such codes. He/she shall enforce the City's nuisance
ordinances and shall have the power to issue citations and summons
for violation of City ordinances relating to the performance of his/her
duties as Director of Public Works.
F. The
Director of Public Works shall have such other powers and duties as
may be prescribed by the Mayor or other ordinances of the City from
time to time.
