§ 242-6 Motor vehicles not to be driven on sidewalks.

No person shall drive any vehicle except a human-powered vehicle upon a sidewalk or sidewalk area except upon a permanent or duly authorized temporary driveway. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25 and costs of prosecution.

§ 242-7 Speed limits established.

The following speed limits are hereby established:

(1)

School zones. All school zones in Subsection A(2), when active: 15 miles per hour.

Any person who shall operate a vehicle at a speed in excess of that established therefor, upon any highway or portion thereof as specified in this section, shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $35 and, for exceeding a maximum speed limit by more than five miles per hour, shall pay an additional fine of $2 for each mile per hour in excess of five miles per hour over the maximum speed limit.

§ 242-8 Traffic signals at certain intersections.

At the following intersections, official traffic signals shall be erected (or if heretofore erected are hereby ratified), and traffic at such intersections shall be directed by such signals:

Caution blinker lights (yellow and red) are located at:

Any driver of a vehicle who shall disobey the directions of any traffic signal shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25 and costs of prosecution.

§ 242-9 One-way streets.

The following are hereby established as one-way streets:

Any person who shall operate a motor vehicle upon any street or portion thereof hereby established as a one-way street other than in the direction hereby established for traffic thereon shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $25 and costs of prosecution.

§ 242-10 Stop intersections.

The following intersections are hereby established as stop intersections, and official stop signs shall be erected (or are hereby confirmed if heretofore erected) in such a position as to face traffic approaching the second-named street upon the first-named street, in the direction or directions hereby indicated. All vehicles approaching any such intersection upon the first-named street, in the direction or directions hereby indicated in each case, shall come to a full stop, within a reasonable distance, before entering any such intersection:

Any driver of a vehicle who shall fail to come to a full stop, within a reasonable distance, before entering any stop intersection, as hereinabove required, shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25, together with costs of prosecution.

§ 242-11 Operation of motor vehicles unlawful on streets closed for construction or repair.

It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle upon any street in the Borough that is under construction, resurfacing or repair, in disregard of any official sign, barricade or notice that the same is closed to vehicular traffic. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $25, together with costs of prosecution.

§ 242-12 Play streets.

The Council is hereby authorized to designate as play streets, whenever it shall deem such action advisable, and for whatever period of time directed by it, any portion of any street in the Borough of Kane whereon sledding and coasting shall be permitted. Such street shall be set apart for the purpose under the direction of the Borough.

No person shall operate any motor vehicle upon any play street at any time when such street shall be so designated, except in case of emergency, with special permission of the official in charge, who shall first clear such play street of all persons using such street for the purpose for which it was set aside.

Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $25, together with costs of prosecution.

§ 242-12.1 Directional traffic. [1]

The following are hereby established for directional traffic:

(1)

No left turn.

(a)

West Hemlock Avenue (traveling in a westerly direction) into the parking lot of the Kane Area Elementary School.

(b)

Exit of parking lot at Kane Area Elementary School onto West Hemlock Avenue.

(c)

Exit of parking lot at Kane Area Middle School onto West Hemlock Avenue.

(2)

No right turn.

(a)

Exit of parking lot at the Middle School/administration parking lot (west parking lot) from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. during school days only.

Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $25, together with costs of prosecution.
