Any employee may request permission to engage in outside
employment. Permission may be granted, provided the work is not prejudicial
to the Borough's best interests and the employee's duties do not suffer.
This is judged by the employee's department head, with final decision
on the request by the Mayor and Council, and will not be unreasonably
withheld.
Permission to engage in outside employment may be
granted for a maximum period of one year, but may be revoked at any
time by the department head or the Mayor and Council.
Requests for extensions of this period are processed in the same manner as the original request. These requests are judged and reviewed on the basis of the factors outlined in Subsection A above and not on the basis of precedent.
Where an employee is injured while engaged in outside
employment, that person will not be entitled to any of the benefits
normally accrued to them by reason of their Borough employment.
